在我們客棧做裝修工人的大叔，是我們大花園這片地的房東。
在我們客棧做幫工的阿妹是我們第二棟樓的房東太太。
這裡的人民生態就是這麼奇怪…人人好像生下來就有一塊地，把其中一塊地出租三十年，拿了一大筆錢，就在原來的房子旁邊再蓋一棟。他們好像都沒有什麼上班的概念，當小工的當小工，做裝修的做裝修，但共同的是他們根本不在乎那一點錢，打工一不高興，要走就走，誰也不管，但是我們關係千絲萬縷，又割不斷，能奈得了什麼何…
"小弟"是本地哈尼人，算是客棧的好朋友，自己家就已經有一棟三層高，每層過千呎的房，換了在香港，已是千萬豪宅! 他們兩夫妻在客棧打散工; 同時，有很多事情上，客棧也要依靠他作為當地人的人脈才能完成…
作為外地人在這裏生活，跟本地的地主和小工打交道，可真是一大學問!

The construction worker at the guesthouse is the landlord of our big garden.
The helper at the guesthouse is the wife of our second building's landlord.
There is a weird interaction with the local people here.... all the locals are born with allocated land. They rent out a part of their land and collect 30 years worth of rental, and then they build a new house using that money. They don't seem to have the concept of working... they work as construction workers, or helpers in nearby guesthouse, but then they will leave anytime if they don't feel like working anymore. There is no such thing as work commitment. On the other hand, we have all sorts of ties with the local people, what possibly can we do?
"Xiao Di" is a local Hani and is a good friend of the guesthouse. He has a 3 storey building of his own, each over 1,000 sq.ft. With that, it will be a over 10 million worth of property in Hong Kong! He and his wife work in the guesthouse occasionally to help with various type of work. At the same time, we need his help as a local in order to deal with various issues...
As a foreigner who live here, dealing with the locals is certainly something you have to master!!
